06/06/2005 - Foster Grant named among Women’s Wear Daily’s Top 100 BrandsAAi FosterGrant recently changed its name to FGX International to better reflect its acquisitions of the Magnivision, Gargoyles, Anarchy and Angel brands, as well as its licenses for Inroman, Champion, Body Glove, Levi Strauss and Club Med. The 76-year-old Foster Grant brand, however, continues to be the company’s cornerstone and workhorse. It maintains a 30 percent share of the mass market sunglass business in the U.S. and a 20 percent share of lower-priced sales overseas, according to FGX chairman and chief executive John R. Ranelli. This year, FosterGrant opened a new showroom on 390 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. It is also working toward a relaunch next spring of its “Who’s that behind those Foster Grants?” ad campaign.
